The pandemic has brought about Facebook and Instagram profiles as the go-to source of information. Be it checking on your favourite stores, local restaurants or online deliveries. Facebook has its marketplace and will likely make a bigger push. Instagram whereas allows users to buy products featured in posts and advertisements. But the company’s new tools go further, enabling businesses to create a full-fledged Facebook Shop. Arrangement of content on the shops is as easy as setting up a new Instagram profile.
As in the words of CEO Mark Zuckerburg, he described this as a way to ‘undo all the economic damage’. Furthermore, he added, ‘I do think we’re going to continue living more of our lives online’. Moreover, he added, ‘ perhaps doing more business online.’
The Emergence of E-Commerce
The Instagram vice president of product Vishal Shah, whereas said that this is a big, global test of the feature. Approximately, with 1 million businesses already having signed up. Those businesses shall just have to upload their catalogue. Choose the products they want to feature, then customize it with a cover image and accent colours. The visitors shall then be able to save and order products, making it as a Facebook Shop all for free. However as mentioned by the vice president of Facebook, Dan levy, the company shall charge ‘small fees’ on each purchase. Here Shah added that the shop itself shall be very consistent, be it on Facebook or Instagram.
What will differ here, is how consumers discover the shops. Whether it’s via the Facebook Marketplace or a product tagged in a photo on Instagram.
The company also plans to launch the Instagram Shop that shall allow users to browse products directly from Instagram Explore. Eventually to jump into a shopping experience from the app’s main navigation tab. Facebook here announced its partnership in this regard with Woo, Channel Advisor, Shopify and Big Commerce, amongst many. Shopify here added, ‘Facebook Shops allows Shopify merchants to get control over customization and merchandising for their storefronts. Inside Facebook and Instagram while managing their products, inventory, orders, and fulfilment directly from within Shopify.’
FACEBOOK – SHOPS
Facebook the esteemed social media platform, unlike others, took a leap and introduced Facebook Shops. The idea of online businesses is foreseen to be a flourishing one. The Social-Media Giant introduced various e-commerce and commutes that they would make customization and merchandise for their storefronts easier. However, Facebook itself is user-friendly and can work very well on itself. The Facebook shops would encourage online shopping, saves a lot of hassle though.
INSTAGRAM – SHOPS
Instagram has been lionized, their fame is all about the sharing stuff across the globe without boundaries. Influencers have used Instagram for a while to promote various brands and products. However, they have introduced their own online shops. These shops are easy to set-up and are promoting online businesses. Despite being an easy set-up, they still partnered with various e-commerce companies; which allow the product management easy. Although, Shopify is used in a totally different aspect, yet their services are useful for proper product management.
